Philips 128-slice CT scan

The 128-Slice Computed Tomography (CT) scanner, the latest generation in a line of CT scanners, is revolutionizing non-invasive diagnosis. This machine can scan the whole body in seconds and provide incredibly sharp 3D images of any organ.

The new 128 slice scanner is changing the face of diagnosis. The scanner's ability to quickly and non-invasively spot small tumors, in a check on the lungs for example, or plaque in the case of cardiovascular disease, is making it the preferred option for diagnosis by an increasing number of physicians.

128-Slice CT is now one of the most important methods of radiological diagnosis. It delivers non-superimposed and cross-sectional images of the body, which can show smaller contrast differences than conventional x-ray images. This allows better visualization of specific differently structured soft-tissue regions, for example, which could otherwise not be visualized satisfactorily.

The beating heart: The technology has been particularly exciting for studying the beating heart, providing the first clear non-invasive images of the heart and its major vessels. The scans can be timed to use only images gathered between contractions, so that the heart and its vessels can be seen without the blurring caused by motion.

This equipment can be used for cancer diagnosis and treatment. The speed and precision of this scanner not only improves the image quality, but also allows us to look at dynamic processes. Instead of just monitoring changes in tumor size, we can watch the perfusion of a contrast agent as it moves toward, around and through a tumor. This can provide an early view of how a patient is responding to therapy.

Advantages of 128 Slice CT Scan
• Works by using two x-ray sources simultaneously. Because of this engineering advancement, this extremely fast CT scanner can image cardiac patients with high or irregular heart rates without the need for beta-blockers (as well as patients with shortness of breath).
• Detect significant coronary artery disease noninvasively with high accuracy, revolutionalizing the treatment of the most common serious health problem in the developed world

Applications of 128 Slice CT Scan Equipment
  • 128 Slice CT Scan Equipment can detect common heart attack systems, including warning signs.
  • Chest discomfort
  • Upper body pain
  • Stomach pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Anxiety
  • Light headedness
  • Sweating
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Breast Cancer
  • Cervical Cancer
  • Colon and Rectal Cancer
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Lung Cancer

Abdominal and breast ultrasound

TOSHIBASSA Aplio 300、GE Logiq P5 4D Ultrasound Machine
Breast ultrasound is a noninvasive (the skin is not pierced) procedure used to assess the breasts. Ultrasound technology allows quick visualization of the breast tissue. Ultrasound may also be used to assess blood flow to areas inside the breasts. The examination is often used along with mammography.

Abdominal ultrasound can be used to diagnose abnormalities in various internal organs, such as the kidneys,[1]liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen and abdominal aorta. If Doppler imaging is added, the blood flow inside blood vessels can be evaluated as well (for example, to look for renal artery stenosis).Abdominal ultrasound is commonly used in the setting of abdominal pain or an acute abdomen (sudden and/or severe abdominal pain syndrome in which surgical intervention might be necessary), in which it can diagnose appendicitis or cholecystitis.

Body Composition Analyzer(X-Scan Plus II)

Detects protein mass, mineral mass, mass of body fat, total body water, soft lean mass, skeletal muscle mass, lean body mass, Weight, B.M.I.,percent body fat, age matched of body, Basal metabolic rate, total energy expenditure.

Colonoscopy/gastroscopy unit

OLYMPUSCV-260(A)
Colonoscopy is the endoscopic examination of the large bowel and the distal part of the small bowel with a CCD camera or a fiber optic camera on a flexible tube passed through the anus. It can provide a visual diagnosis (e.g. ulceration, polyps) and grants the opportunity for biopsy or removal of suspected colorectal cancer lesions.

Gastroscopy is a diagnosticendoscopic procedure that visualizes the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract up to the duodenum. It is considered a minimally invasive procedure since it does not require an incision into one of the major body cavities and does not require any significant recovery after the procedure.

As the population is aging, preventive medicine is playing a more and more important role. Ton-Yen General Hospital Executive Health Center was established in 1997 and provided out-patient and health examination for the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). For more than 15 years, our center also served employees and executives of different nationalities from Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) and Powerchip Technology Corporation (PTC),etc. Our center is experienced in providing high-quality health examination to clients from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds.

Side effects and risk of anesthesia

This is to tell you some of the possible risks of having anesthesia.

  • Anesthesia is needed to relieve you of pain and stress during surgical procedures. However, all forms of anesthesia involve some risks even death. The reported perioperative mortality rate correlates with a patient’s preoperative health conditions. The predicted perioperative mortality rate listed below is based on a five-category physical status classification system adopted by the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
  • Class1: normal healthy patient (mortality rate 0.06-0.08%)
  • Class2: mild systemic disease and no functional limitations (mortality rate 0.27-0.4%)
  • Class3: moderate to severe systemic disease that results in some functional limitations (mortality rate 1.8-4.3%)
  • Class 4: severe systemic disease that is a constant threat to life and functionally incapacitating (Mortality rate 7.8-23%)
  • Class5: not expected to survive 24 h with or without surgery (mortality rate 9.4-51%)

As with any other medical intervention, there are risks of potential complications with virtually all forms of anesthesia.

Existing or past medical problems may add risk during and after surgery.

  • Cardiovascular problems such as angina, a previous heart attack, heart failure, hypertension, or valvular heart disease increase your risk of myocardial infarction and stroke.
  • Lung problems such as asthma, respiratory tract infection, or chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases may worsen your lung condition after surgery.
  • Other conditions such as liver disease, kidney problems, endocrine disorders, cancer, alcohol, or drug abuse also increase your risk.

The anesthesiologist providing your care is a skilled specialist who is trained to foresee and prevent most of the problems before they arise. Some critical problems occurring during or after anesthesia may call for you to stay in the intensive care unit after surgery. During anesthesia, we must keep your airway open. This can result in injury to your teeth, dental work, tongue, lips, nose or throat. You may have a sore throat from the airway used during surgery. You may vomit the contents of your stomach during surgery. They may enter the lungs and cause breathing problems. This risk of aspiration will greatly increase in an emergency surgery or in a patient with increased abdominal pressure (intestinal obstruction, pregnancy). You may have adverse reactions to drugs or blood products you receive during surgery. On rare occasions, these may be life-threatening. You may sometimes have skin or nerve injury from positioning required for surgery or equipment used during surgery. You may have a headache or backache after a spinal or epidural anesthesia. On rare occasions, transient neurological symptoms or even permanent nerve damage can occur. Some drugs given during surgery may cause your muscles to be sore and stiff. Although rarely occurs, an incidence of 0.2% is reported for the occurrence of awareness during general anesthesia. Most of these cases are reported by patients undergoing major cardiothoracic surgeries. Although rarely, malignant hyperthermia may occur in genetically susceptible patients after exposure to an anesthetic triggering agent (1:15,000 in pediatric patients and 1:40,000 in adult patients). While waking up from anesthesia, some patients may shake or shiver. Some patients feel nauseated or vomit after surgery or anesthesia. This can be influenced by a history of motion sickness, the type of surgery performed, anesthetics used during surgery, and the pain medications after surgery. In the event of a sudden unexpected critical condition (hypoxic brain injury or massive bleeding), extraordinary measures (surgical tracheostomy to secure the airway or arterial and central venous catheter insertion to stabilize circulation) may become necessary. If you still have questions about any part of the intraoperative events or anesthetic plans, please talk to your doctor or anesthesiologist about them before surgery.

Side effects and risks of endoscopy

Possible complications of this procedure include, but are not limited to: bleeding and tearing or perforation of the bowel wall. These complications, should they occur, may require surgery, hospitalization, repeat colonoscopy, and/or a transfusion. Perforation of the bowel is a known, but rare complication which can occur at a rate of 1 per 1,000 colonoscopies. Bleeding, usually after a polyp removal, can occur at a rate of 1 per 1,000 colonoscopies and continue up to two weeks after a polyp is removed. Other extremely rare, but serious or possibly fatal risks include: difficulty breathing, heart attack, and stroke.

What to watch for after your procedure?

You should not drive after the procedure. You should have a driver to drive you home. While waking up from anesthesia, some patients may shake or shiver. Some patients feel nauseated or vomit after surgery or anesthesia. This can be influenced by a history of motion sickness, the type of surgery performed, anesthetics used during surgery, and the pain medications after surgery.

If you still have questions about any part of the intraoperative events or anesthetic plans, please talk to your doctor or anesthesiologist about them before surgery.
